First in the real estate sector – Croisette becomes climate neutral

The construction and real estate sector accounts for 21% of Sweden’s total greenhouse gas emissions. This is a significant part of society’s total environmental impact.

Every year Boverket shares a report on the sector’s total environmental impact and the trend does not seem to be going in the right direction. That’s why we at Croisette have taken the decision to become Sweden’s first company in the real estate sector to overcompensate its emissions.

Ever since the company was founded in 2015 – we at Croisette have had a basic idea of doing things differently. Not only through our range of services, but also by setting an example for other companies when it comes to sustainability thinking when it comes to growth and expansion. We want our core values to be reflected in everything we do, not least in how we approach sustainability.

By starting this work, setting an action plan and changing the way we work, we hope to inspire more companies in the sector to work towards the same ambitious climate goals as us.

I am convinced that this is the future and the obvious way forward. As innovative real estate advisors, we feel a great responsibility to lead the industry in the right direction. We chose not only to offset our own emissions in 2020 but also an extra 10% for historical emissions. It’s time for all businesses, and not least in the property sector, to look up and start taking responsibility on climate change. Of course, I am both happy and proud that we have the honour of being first, but that is not what is important. The most important thing for us now is that it won’t be long before climate neutrality certificates are standard for everyone in the property sector.

Climate neutral today and even more in the future

Becoming climate neutral requires some major changes. That’s why an action plan was set for 2021 for how we can make step-by-step improvements. Our goal is to reduce our emissions by 45% over the next 10 years. We have taken a decision to offset our total emissions by 110% to also compensate for some of our historical emissions. The decision to overcompensate also forms the basis for our next goal, which is to become climate positive. We have chosen to invest in projects that generate clean and sustainable energy.

On our website you will find more information about our overall climate impact, our action plan and the projects we have invested in. You will also find the Croisette Greenhouse gas accounting report, a report created by South Pole on behalf of Croisette.
