A business community gala is held in Malmö every year where a team of judges made up of former award winners and other business players select a range of winners in various award categories. This gala has taken place for 18 consecutive years now, and the objective is to unite, inspire and highlight Malmö’s broad business community. In turn, the awards are a way of highlighting and celebrating people and companies who have excelled in various ways during the year.
This year saw Per Svensson, CEO at Croisette, presented with the award for Business Rookie of the Year. Business Rookie of the Year is presented to a Malmö entrepreneur who is no more than 30 years old. As an entrepreneur, you must have been innovative, helped to bring about renewal of the business community in Malmö or achieved something that stands out from the crowd and is different. The Business Rookie of the Year award is presented in partnership with Sydsvenskan.
The judges gave the following reasons for their decision.
The industry in which the winner operates is described as conservative, and so there is plenty of potential for change. Successfully making your own way when the people who have gone before you have left footprints to follow is an impressive feat. The winner of the Business Rookie of the Year award from Sydsvenskan and the City of Malmö is a person with drive, energy and a strong affinity for business. We predict that his journey of change has only just begun.
“I was both surprised and pleased when I found out about the nomination. When I then got to the final, that was when I began to feel a bit nervous – but it was a happy nervousness. The fact that the wider business world is paying attention to our efforts is good for us, of course, but it is good for the entire industry as well. I am incredibly proud of my colleagues who have helped us to get to where we are, and it feels as though 2020 is the year in which things will really start happening.”
